La Faculté de Lettres et Sciences Humaines de l’Institut Catholique de Lille organise un concours international de fiction très brève (flash fiction) sur la thématique « Indépendance » / « Independence » /  «Independencia», pour les étudiants de l’UCL et de nos universités partenaires internationaux.

Le concours est ouvert aux étudiants inscrits à l’Institut Catholique de Lille et à leurs universités partenaires partout dans le monde en 2023-24. Les étudiants sont invités à rédiger une histoire ou un poème de 200 à 500 mots (1 à 2 pages) autour de la thématique « Indépendance » en anglais, français ou espagnol. Le participant peur rédiger dans sa langue maternelle et/ou en langue étrangère. Il est possible d’envoyer des histoires dans deux langues différentes.

L’étudiant participant doit signaler son nom, prénom, université, langue maternelle et adresse email au début de sa contribution et le nombre de mots à la fin.

Le jury sera international et composé d’enseignants-chercheurs et d’écrivains. Ses membres seront des natifs et/ou des enseignants de la langue concernée.

Une pré-sélection, basée sur la qualité de la langue, sera effectuée avant d’envoyer les textes aux jurys.

Le concours se déroulera pendant l’année universitaire 2023-2024. Le lancement aura lieu en octobre 2023 et les participants enverront leurs contributions aux organisateurs pour mi-mars 2024. Les lauréats seront annoncés dans une cérémonie hybride en juin 2024 pendant le European Summer Program.

Les contributions gagnantes pour chaque langue seront publiées dans un livre et en ligne. Dans la publication, les récits des lauréats seront accompagnés de quelques récits écrits par des écrivains invités.

The Arts and Humanities Faculty (FLSH) of the Institut Catholique de Lille is organising an international Flash Fiction competition on the theme « Independence » / « Indépendance» / « » for students of our university and our international partner universities.

The competition is open to all students registered at the Institut Catholique de Lille or one of their partner universities across the world during the academic year 2023-24. Students are invited to submit an original story or poem of 200 to 500 words (approximately one or two pages) on the theme “Independence” in English, French or Spanish. Students may write in their native language and/or in a foreign language. It is possible to enter stories in two different languages.

Participants should write their full name, university, native language and email address at the top of their entry and the number of words at the end.

The jury will be made up of university lecturers and authors, native speakers and/or teachers of the language they are judging.

A short list, based on the quality of the language, will be compiled before sending the texts to the jurys.

The competition will take place during the academic year 2023-24. The rules and invitations to participate will be sent out in October 2023 and students will submit their contributions by mid-March 2024. The winners will be made public during a hybrid ceremony in June 2024 during the European Summer Program.

The winning stories for each language will be published in paper form and online together with stories from guest authors.
